Short list for what's new and interesting at PDAC 2012

The PDAC 2012 Convention for mineral exploration is starting up this Sunday, March 4th, and over 1,000 exhibitors and 27,700 attendees from 120 countries will be gathering in the Toronto Metro Convention Centre.

This year's show is bigger than ever, with a broad range of technical, innovation and open sessions to choose from. Here's our short list for what's new and interesting at PDAC in 2012.

New PDAC Mobile App

PDAC has launched a Mobile Convention Guide  that lets you navigate exhibits and exhibitors, technical sessions and speakers -  and build your schedule on your mobile phone. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Palm, Windows Mobile, Nokia Symbian and Android Google phones. Get the guide by going to this link on your smart phone.

Monday’s Keynote

At 9:45am, Michael Chender from the Metals Economics Group presents on Predicting future discovery and development cycles. At 11:25 am, Richard Hillis from the Deep Exploration Technologies Cooperative Research Centre (DET CRC),  reviews their initiatives aimed at cost-effective drilling - DET CRC: Uncovering the future.

Tuesday’s Canadian Cordillera Session

Two talks on finding porphyry deposits. At 10:25am, Stephen Rowins, British Columbia Geological Survey presents on Porphyry deposits of the northern Cordillera: New concepts and discoveries. At 11:15am, David Heberlein, Heberlein Geoconsulting is presenting on The use of deep penetrating geochemical methods in the search for blind Cu-Au porphyry mineralization.

Tuesday's Geophysics Session

At 2:25pm, Brian Bengert, Vale Exploration presents on The common pole borehole IP method. At 4:05pm, Ian MacLeod, Geosoft is presenting on the VOXI Cloud Approach to Earth Modelling for Exploration. Demonstrations of VOXI Earth Modelling will be held on Geosoft booth #931 Sunday through Tuesday at 4:00pm.

Wednesday’s New Discoveries Session

It starts off at 9:10am with a presentation from Mark Petersen, New Gold Inc. on Geology and exploration of the Blackwater gold project, British Columbia, Canada

Wednesday's Specialty Metals and Minerals Session

At 9:35am, Gregory Bowes, Northern Graphite Corporation presents on Graphite: A miner's perspective. At 10:00am, Bill Radvak, American Vanadium Corp., is presenting on Vanadium: The critical element.
